RELAXATION MASSAGE BENEFITS

Finding it difficult to let go of your daily stressors – not enjoying life as much as you used to? This is a common complaint we treat every day. At the Centre we have the perfect antidote to the mounting pressure of work and life responsibilities and increased nervous tension – our relaxation massage. We use specific massage techniques that are scientifically validated to slow your thinking down, have you feeling centred and comfortable again. You will gain a fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm for life. A relaxed body leads to a relaxed mind.

STRESS

You know stress is a problem and there are a number of ways to cope with it more effectively. The biology of stress is pretty straightforward and is mediated through your sympathetic nervous system stimulating the rapid release of a number of hormones – adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol. This is the fight or flight response you are unfortunately familiar with. Your pulse and blood pressure jumps up releasing oxygen and more glucose to your muscles in preparation for action. What we can do for you is to switch off this mechanism and turn on your parasympathetic nervous which does the exact opposite – this commonly know as the rest and digest response. This will relieve tension and anxiety, renewing your energy and promoting a sense of relaxation.

SLEEP

Not sleeping well? The amount and quality of sleep is the ‘canary in the coalmine’ indicator of the degree of stress you are under. Not enough means you become tired, irritable, aggressive and more likely to use sleeping medication, which is only a short-term solution. Significant numbers of people suffer from insomnia and inadequate sleep. The good news is that we can help. Relaxation massage can help you overcome these difficulties increasing the amount of sleep and reduce some of those mid-sleep awakenings. As a bonus you may even fall asleep on our massage table.

HEADACHES

Another primary indicator of the degree of stress you are trying to cope with. Recent research now proves that specialized massage techniques can greatly reduce the pain of tension headaches and in some cases migraine headaches. Strains in a number of neck and shoulder muscles can be precursors to headaches. Slowly releasing these muscles can help prevent onset of and reduce the severity of your headache.
