  DE-TOX & LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE SPECIAL

This month we are offering a $10 discount off the price of a 1 or 1.5 hour Lymphatic Drainage Massage. With three experienced therapists qualified in this special modality - Ali Rubie plus Howard & Thanya  - we can support your spring de-tox. Just phone us on 9971 3112 to book an appointment.

As you will read below a properly functioning lymphatic system is vital to many aspects of being healthy. You can tell it's not working properly if you are not feeling well, have fluid retention or are fighting off frequent infections.

Some people suffer from lymphodema which is an accumulation of fluid and waste products causing semi-permanent swelling. Often it follows from surgery and most commonly we work with women who have had breast surgery and removal of breast tissue and lymph nodes with a consequent swelling in their shoulder, arm or hand.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage reduces the back-up of fluid, speeds up the removal of waste products from the cells, boosts your immune function - especially the work of white blood cells, and can help relieve constipation.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

What is the lymphatic system?

It is an extensive circulatory network that has several key functions:
  1. continuously moves approximately 10% of waste products from your cells
  2. filters this waste and returns the clean lymph fluid to your blood
  3. maintains body fluid balance
  4. carries out several very important immune functions
  5. transports dietary fats and proteins
Your most recognised experience of the lymphatic system in action is when "your glands are up". This is in fact a swollen lymph node or series of nodes defending your health against an attack by infection or disease. Most commonly this occurs either in your neck, armpit or groin.

Lymph nodes are filters of lymph fluid and the site of white blood cell activity protecting you against bacteria, viruses and funghi.

Don't worry this is an entirely normal event - unless the swelling remains for several weeks. Then you need to see your medical practitioner.

Lymph fluid moves slowly through your body as it is not driven by the pumping mechanism of your heart. Instead it relies on you moving muscle (any form of exercise), breathing (that's easy!) and in some parts smooth muscle contraction.

To maintain a healthy lymph system you need a healthy diet and plenty of filtered water. Keeping up regular exercise and doing some deep breathing (about 50% of lymph nodes are located in your abdominal region).

If you do a Detox could be the answer!

Our world is full of chemicals - in our food and drink, the air, cosmetics, medications...the list goes on. Your body has an inbuilt detoxification system however it can be overwhelmed with toxins over time. This is where a healthy Detox Program can give you back your bounce!

Detoxification in our bodies is a complex process. A safe and effective Detox Program requires several steps for it to work. In my Detox Program, I tailor the Program to the individual however the following steps are most important:

Step 1 - Clean Eating - A healthy clean diet that reduces the toxic load on the body is introduced. This is not some unmanageable crash diet - it's simply the removal of toxins in food and drink plus the addition of foods that aid our body's natural detox pathways.

Step 2 - Remove - Antimicrobial herbs such as Black Walnut and Chinese Wormwood are used to remove harmful organisms from the gastrointestinal tract. Harmful organisms produce toxic chemicals and damage the gut lining.

Step 3 - Renew - Probiotics such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis are given to create a healthier environment in the gut. Glutamine and other nutrients are used to renew and repair the gut lining. This is important as a healthy gut stops ingested toxins from passing into the blood!

Step 4 - Release - This final stage enhances the body's waste removal system and gets the toxins out of your body for once and for all! Nutrients and herbal medicines are used to aid the liver's detox phases, plus gallbladder, kidney and lymphatic function. Antioxidants are also used to prevent damage to cells by the toxins.

So start feeling vital, energetic and healthy again!
